Les Gets & Morzine Mountain Bike Hire
Deciding whether or not to bring your own bike to ride can be a difficult decision. Here we take a closer look at bike hire and the options available to you. It’s worth while noting that they say a weeks riding here is equivalent to a years worth of wear and tare on your bike compared to riding trails at home or in the UK. Bike hire isn’t cheap, but you get a well serviced bike that has been chosen to work well on this type of terrain. Normally you will be hiring this years model or have the option to pay slightly less for last years model.
The first stage is deciding what type of Mountain Bike riding you will be doing when you visit Les Gets and Morzine. There are two main categories:
Riding takes place on special man made trails. Using the lift system to get to the start of the trail you will find the option of green, blue, red or black graded trails (easy to extreme). The trails will features jumps, berms, drops and ladder bridges. For this type of riding we recommend a dedicated DH bike such as the Nukeproof Pulse Comp or Scott Gambler 730. Expect to pay between €80 to €120 euros per day or between €400 to €600 euros for 6 days rental.
All Mountain (XC)
All other riding in Les Gets, Morzine and the Portes du Soleil region is on single track and fire roads accessible to all. The trails link up the lift network allowing you to travel great distances from valley to valley with minimal effort. In general you will need to pedal your bike up or along for short distances, but you’ll still spend the majority of your ride going downhill. For this type of riding we recommend a dedicated All Mountain bike such as the Nukeproof Mega 275 Pro or the Scott Voltage FR 720. Expect to pay between €60 to €100 euros per day or between €300 to €400 euros for 6 days rental.
