Christopher ChapmanChris grew up in the Essex countryside but always enjoyed regular visits to the Alps skiing. Starting at 11 years old, annual school trips soon gave him the ski bug. He had the opportunity to travel in his early twenties and decided to go across the water to America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. He experienced some of the best skiing and snowboarding he had ever done and came back with a real thirst for more. Having a limited budget and struggling to get time off work, France being so close to the UK seemed like a good option, so he headed over to the Alps and fell in love with the place. He completed a couple of winter seasons in France between jobs, but decided to go back to New Zealand to teach snowboarding in Queenstown. This was where he met Beth and they both talked about setting up an adventure Chalet company back in France. Several years, three children and lots of fun later, they now run a successful Chalet Company based in Les Gets France. Chris said ‘It is a lot of hard work running a Chalet company, but I love meeting new people and passing on my passion and love for the mountains and all the activities available’.

Bethan ChapmanBeth lived and grew up in Aberystwyth where she could regularly be found surfing the sea waves in her Kayak. With the Welsh countryside right on her doorstep she loved being involved in all the outdoor sports. After completing a Sports Management degree at Northumbria University she went on to work for Outward bound at their centre in Aberdovey. She really enjoyed working with young people and helping them achieve goals that they did not think possible. She wanted to travel and managed to get a job working for Rock and Ropes in Taupo, New Zealand. During the winter season she worked in Queenstown as a ski lift operator. One day she bumped into one of the snowboarding instructors and he offered to teach her to snowboard! They got chatting and talked about setting up a Chalet Company together – that was several years ago and now Beth and Chris run a Chalet business in Les Gets. Beth said ‘I’m busy looking after our children, but I love bringing them up in such a wonderful environment. My favourite sports are skiing, running and wakeboarding. I have competed in several of the local running events including the Mont Blanc half marathon. I love meeting people, especially families, and enjoy helping to ensure all our holidays run smoothly and everyone gets to experience all that is on offer out here’.
