What is the Passportes du Soleil?
The PassPortes du Soleil highlights the start of summer in the Portes du Soleil region, showcasing the area’s fantastic mountain biking. This annual event runs every year at the end of June, with all resorts—Les Gets, Morzine, Avoriaz, Chatel, Morgins, Le Crosets, and Champery—opening their lifts.
The PassPortes du Soleil route uses 13 of the 22 summer lifts, covering 80 km through France and Switzerland. Riders enjoy 5,700 m of descent with only 720 m of climbing, making it a stunning ride with breathtaking views. There are six refreshment stops offering drinks (including beer), snacks, meals, and entertainment, creating a festive atmosphere.
This event caters to all skill levels, from experienced bikers to leisurely riders who appreciate the scenery. Completing the circuit requires good fitness and determination, but the focus is on having fun..
The 2026 PassPortes du Soleil will take place on 26-28 June. To take part in the event contact us now, as spots fill fast! EPASSPORTES:
The EPASS’PORTES offers a course specifically designed for electric Mountain Bikes. You will ride around the Portes du Soleil on trails offering amazing scenery and some technical climbing (made easier by the fact you are on an electric bike). The choice of courses range from 40km, 60km and 106km using 8 lifts and challenging you with 1200m of climbing and 3000m of descent! There are 8 charging stations available at the main food and drink stops with Bosch chargers but also mains adapters if you want to bring your own brand charger with you. KIDS PASS’PORTES:
The Kids PassPortes du Soleil is for children aged between 9 years old to 14 years old. They set off as a group accompanied by qualified Mountain Biking instructors. They have their own course designed to be easier and more suitable for young riders. The aim is for the kids to have fun and experience the amazing mountain biking in the Portes du Soleil. For the PassPortes du Soleil Kids you need to bring:
– Your helmet (full face helmet recommended) and gloves (MANDATORY)
– Your others protections (knee pads and elbow pads recommended)
– Your backpack with water and puncture repair kit
– Clothes in case of rain and cold weather.
NIGHT RIDE:
This is normally offered in the host village. In 2024 the night ride will take place in Chatel and is sponsored by Sigma. Mountain Bike guides will provide special bike lights and take you on a night time adventure.
WALKING PASS’PORTES TOUR
Enjoy a day hiking around the Portes du Soleil on foot whilst taking in the amazing scenery and landscapes. The hike starts at 9am and will last between 3 to 4 hours with food stops on the route. You can start from either Chatel, Les Gets or Montriond-Les Lindarets with other like minded walkers.
