The 31st edition of L’Étape du Tour took place on July 9, 2023, following the same course as stage 14 of the Tour de France. The route stretched 157 km from Annemasse to Morzine, featuring over 4,100 meters of elevation gain. Cyclists tackled several challenging climbs, including the Col de Saxel (Category 3), Col de Cou (Category 1), Col de Feu (Category 1), Col de la Ramaz (Category 1), and the iconic Col de Joux Plane (Hors Catégorie), making it a demanding but exhilarating event for participants.

The 2019 edition of L’Étape du Tour took place on July 21, following the route of stage 20 of that year’s Tour de France. The 135 km course from Albertville to Val Thorens included 4,563 meters of climbing, featuring notable ascents such as the Cormet de Roselend (Category 1), Côte de Longefoy (Category 2), and the final Hors Catégorie climb to Val Thorens. However, just six days later, the actual Tour de France stage was shortened to 59 km due to landslides caused by a severe hailstorm the day before.

In 2016, L’Étape du Tour started in Megève and finished in Morzine, located in the Haute Savoie region. The race was shortened to 122 km, with three mountain passes, as the Col de la Ramaz was omitted due to the risk of rockfall on the descent. A total of 11,471 participants began the race, tackling the Col des Aravis (1,487m), Col de la Colombière (1,618m), and the Col de Joux Plane (1,691m). A record-breaking 11,212 riders successfully completed the course and crossed the finish line in Megève.
